Occupational Therapy Services in Brisbane

Phase One Therapy is a mobile occupational therapy service working with adults across Brisbane and surrounds. Our registered occupational therapists assess how you manage the everyday activities that matter to you, then set out practical, evidence-based recommendations in a report you and your support team can actually use.

We work with adults living with complex, intellectual, cognitive and neurological disability, including acquired brain injury, neurodegenerative conditions, persistent pain, chronic and genetic conditions, neurodivergent clients and psychosocial disabilities. Our therapists come to you at home, in the community or online, so the assessment happens in the environment where the activity really takes place.

Our occupational therapy services

OT Driving Assessments

An occupational therapy driving assessment looks at how a medical condition, injury, disability or age-related change affects your driving. It combines an off-road assessment of vision, cognition and physical function with an on-road drive, and results in a written report and recommendations for your doctor or licensing authority.

We assess drivers aged over 75 completing a medical review, drivers aged 16 and over with a medical condition or disability, learner drivers checking their readiness to start lessons, and drivers who may benefit from vehicle modifications or driving assistive technology.

Personal mobility devices (e-scooter and similar

We can also help if you want to safely use a personal mobility device, such as an e-scooter or e-skateboard. Queensland is introducing new age and licensing rules for these devices from 31 August 2026.

An occupational therapist can assess your vision, cognition and physical ability to operate a device safely, and prepare written documentation to support any medical or licensing requirements that apply to you.

Assistive Technology

Assistive technology is any equipment that supports you to do the things you need and want to do. We assess, trial and document assistive technology including complex seating, mobility and transfer equipment, and vehicle and passenger modifications, then prepare the evidence your funder needs to consider the request.

This service is commonly used by NDIS participants, and our reports are written to meet NDIS assistive technology evidence requirements.

OT Functional Capacity Assessments

A functional capacity assessment is a structured evaluation of what you can do across daily activities such as self-care, mobility, household tasks, community access and communication. The result is a comprehensive written report describing your current function and the supports that would help.

Functional capacity assessments are commonly requested for NDIS plan reviews and access requests, Disability Support Pension applications, home and living or SDA evidence, and NDIA Tribunal matters.

Medico-legal Reports

We prepare independent occupational therapy reports for solicitors, insurers and courts. These include Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCE), Assessments of Daily Living Skills (ADL), and Expert Opinion Reports setting out our findings, reasoning and recommendations.

Our principal occupational therapist has extensive experience writing reports for medico-legal and insurance matters, and reports are prepared to be clear and useful to everyone involved, including the client.

Palliative Care

Occupational therapy in palliative care focuses on comfort, dignity and doing what matters for as long as possible. We work alongside clients receiving cancer care and palliative care, and their families, on equipment, energy management, home set-up and the practical questions that come with a changing diagnosis, including driving.

Home Visits or Telehealth

Mobile is our preferred way of working. Seeing you at home or in your community means we assess you in the environment you actually live in, which makes our recommendations more accurate. Where travel is not practical, or where a shorter session will do, we offer telehealth appointments online or in-clinic appointments.
